Laura Harris (Phoenix, MD) from the women's swimming team and Eric Solomon (Columbia, PA) from the men's track & field squad were named Widener's Outstanding Athletes of the Year at the school's Senior Awards Night.

After getting seven student-athletes picked to the Middle Atlantic Conference WInter Academic All-Conference Teams, Widener did one better in the winter with eight named to the squads.

Widener junior Tyler Williams (Hanover, PA), coming off his record day, was picked Middle Atlantic Conference Men's Track & Field Athlete of the Week and freshman Alexis Schengrund (Hillsborough, NJ) was tabbed Commonwealth Conference Pitcher of the Week.

Widener senior Erica Szpynda (Berwick, PA) and junior Mike Recla (Bloomsburg, PA) each took their turns in the spotlight by competing in the shot put at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in Lincoln, NE.

Of the numerous All-Americas in the history of Widener's track & field program, junior Tyler Williams (Hanover, PA) now can proudly add his name to that list.

Widener assistant track & field coach Nick Price, who has been one of the program's most influential people, has been named the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Mideast Region Men's Assistant Coach of the Year.
